Speaker: Igor Verbitsky, University of Missouri-Columbia Time, date, place: 2pm, 28 March 2006, POT 845 Title: Quasilinear and fully nonlinear equations of Lane-Emden type, and Wolff potential estimates Abstract: We will present a solution to the existence problem and give a complete characterization of removable singularities for a class of quasilinear and fully nonlinear PDE with nonlinear source terms. Model problems include equations of Lane-Emden type which involve the p-Laplacian and k-Hessian operators. Sharp local and global pointwise estimates of solutions, and new Liouville-type theorems will be discussed as well. Our approach is based on systematic use of Wolff potentials, dyadic models, and nonlinear trace inequalities. This work is joint with Nguyen Cong Phuc. Verbitsky's visit is funded, in part, by the College Enrichment Fund of the College of Arts and Sciences.
