Problematic problems.

The following problems have been reported. The code identifies the particular version of the question. This code appears on the page that is displayed after submitting an answer.

To report a problem, use the error reporting form.

General issues.

  • Questions with checkboxes generally require that you select all correct answers in order to have the question marked correct.
  • There is no limit on the number of times that you may submit answers to your homework. All submissions for credit must occur by the due date. Once you receive credit for a question, you will never lose credit for that question.

Homework R3

  • Question 19. There was a typographical error in the question and the intended answer was not marked correct by WHS. These errors were corrected on Monday, 10 April 2006 at 12:45pm. A second typographical error was corrected at 4pm, 10 April 2006.

Homework C1

  • Question 12. (code 45, 47 and 48) With the original wording, this question had infinitely many correct answers. The question was revised so that there is now only one answer. The answer marked correct by WHS did not change.

Homework R2

  • Question 18. Correct answer not accepted by WHS. Fixed 11am, 7 March 2006.

Homework B7

  • Question 4 and 5. (all versions) These questions were rewritten so that the domain of each function is an open interval. This avoids the question as to whether the endpoints are critical numbers. (According to Stewart's definitions, they are.) Changes made on 27 February 2006. One version (code 20) of question 4 was corrected again at 4pm, 3 March 2006. Prior to being corrected, WHS did not accept the correct answer.

Homework B3

  • Question 17 (all versions). The correct answer is not accepted by WHS. Corrected at 2pm, 17 February 2006.
  • Question 21 (code 104 and 105). The correct answer is not accepted by WHS. Code 104 was corrected at 2pm, 17 February 2006. Code 105 was corrected at 1pm, 20 February 2006.

Homework B1

  • Question 15 (all versions). The problem asks for exact answers. Thus, answers should be entered in the form pi/n or -pi/n where n is a whole number. Accurate decimal approximations may be marked incorrect.

Homework A4

  • Question 9 (Code 36). The line before the first row of radio buttons should read "...difference quotient (f(x+h)-f(x))/h...". Corrected at 2pm, 27 January 2006.

Homework A3

  • Question 26. All correct answers must be selected in order to be marked correct.

Homework A2

  • Question 4 (code 16). The second sentence should read "The point (1,1) is on the graph."

Homework A1

  • Question 15 (code 73). The correct answer was not accepted by WHS. Corrected at 4pm on Tuesday, 17 January 2006.
  • Question 15 (code 74). This question uses the notation exp(x) for the function ex.
  • Homework A1 should have 22 questions. Some students have reported that their homework average is being computed out of 23 questions and thus their maximum possible score is 22/23 or 96%. It appears to be difficult to correct this error. Future homework sets should report the correct number of problems. Please e-mail russell.brown@uky.edu if you have notice other problems related to incorrect numbering of the homework set.
  • Questions 10 and 13. In order to receive credit for these questions (and all checkbox questions), you must select all correct responses. These questions have more than one correct response.
